In 2021 we recorded and mapped a network of hiking trails which give access to four of the many scattered stone arch bridges that can be found in the Rhodope Mountains. The title of this project is “Rodopi Mountain Bridges” and it took place in the Regional Unit of Drama and more specifically in the mountainous area of the Municipality of Paranesti near the settlements of Dipotami and Trachoni.
In 2022, the network was implemented, consisting of 4 different paths, leading to the bridge on the Tsoukali stream, to the bridge in Vathyrema (known as the Balaban bridge), to the bridge of the Old Keep in Arkudorema and to the bridge of Dipotami near the chapel of Agio Pnevma.
Paths of Greece researched and implemented the Stone Bridges of Drama project on behalf of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
Part of the project promotion was the map-brochure shown above, website and free digital maps through the Avenza Maps app.
